„In a VR experience technology disappears, the screen disappears and our consciousness that used to interpret reality itself becomes a medium. We call it immersion a dive into a story.”
― Natalia Borawska

Statement

We have three years of experience in assisting students with their immersion projects. Our main aim is to develop artistic profiles of our students, whom we serve with our support and experience.

We work together from the beggining of a concept, through its implementation up to project’s development. Our interdisciplinary workshop is teamwork oriented. We believe that the most significant things happen on the verge of disciplinary categorizations and classifications.

Topics taken up in the workshop include VR perception and elements that build the VR experience like forms of illusion, embodiment, proprioception and affordance.

We investigate the phenomenon of immersion and its levels. The scope of our inquiry is broad and reflects issues analyzed in the workshop at a given time.

Currently we explore 360 movie, 360/3D movie, 3D simulators, gaming engines, surround and ambisonic sound, 3D modeling, photogrammetry, 3D scanning, simulations, Virtual and Extended  Reality.

We’re open to the use of new media in participatory and community actions, , in individual, interactive and multimedia experiences, with a focus on a search for an original, both visual and audio aesthetics as well as of new models of interaction. This requires developing new tools and unique didactic methods. We are acquainted with creating immersion experiences, mainly in virtual reality projects that use six levels of freedom. We know how much work and discipline it requires for young artists to go through all the stages of production – and we’re not afraid to say this in the Academy of Arts – of an interactive VR experience.

Concept, research, design, programming, testing, software, hardware. We use adequate tools well aware of their limitations.

Our main goal is to build a team that could work in proper balance of its didactic components. People of listed professions could enrich the creative process. We hope to reach this goal in the future.

We’d like to present few realisations, models of cooperation and activities that emerged recently in our workshop.

Teaching content:

The workshop is an interdisciplinary and teamwork oriented. We work with the assumption, that our activities should engage representatives of various scientific, technical and artistic disciplines and not be limited to people from the art world. We believe that the most important things happen on the verge of disciplinary categorizations and classifications.

Topics taken up in the workshop:

Themes investigated in our workshop include: the perception of a VR experience and elements constituting the experience like forms of illusion, embodiment, proprioception, agency and affordance. Our key interest is the phenomenon of immersion and it’s levels. The scope of our investigations is broad and reflects our current interests. At the moment we work on tools like: 360 movies, 360/3D movies, 3D simulators, gaming engines, surround and ambisonic sound, 3D modeling, photogrammetry, 3D scanning, simulations in a virtual and extended reality.

We’re open to the use of new media in participatory and community actions, in individual, interactive and multimedia experiences, with a focus on a search for an original, both visual and audio aesthetics as well as of new models of interaction.
